Hi!

Welcome to the Cruising the Nile Web Site.

That's me in the silly hat, at Abu Simbel in October 1994, when I went with my wife, Lesley, on a cruise between Luxor and Aswan for our first visit to Egypt.

A cruise down the Nile is probably one of the most popular"dream" holidays. Nowadays, though, it is not so unattainable, as tour companies introduce budget priced value deals. Heck, we managed it, and we're not exactly high earners! We have since been back to Egypt in July of 2000 for 3 weeks - it's great value for money in midsummer as it is "off-season", but if you don't mind the heat it's a great time to go.

This site hopes to give a small insight into what you can expect, what I saw, and why you should go!

Picture Resource

Very slowly, I have been adding pictures from our second visit in 2000, and eventually hope to make this site a major picture resource for those interested in Egypt and its historical sites and tourism. This is currently under construction, but so far I have added pictures of Abu Simbel, Edfu, Luxor, Karnak and some of the sites around Lake Nasser.

How do I get to Egypt?

If you are planning to visit Egypt, or simply want to find out more about visiting this fantastic country, we recommend the Rough Guide to Egypt. We found it to be far and away the most comprehensive and practical of the guide books. It certainly enhanced our stay!
